Brian Calabrese Photography - The Blog

Some of my first memories came from photographs. Even as a young child, I was drawn to the images in the family album –the way a moment that had passed could still be remembered so vividly when captured in a photograph. I found myself moved by the fleeting stillness of a picture that could come to life so vibrantly in my mind. It was then that I realized the power of photographs: in viewing an image, we relive a memory.

Consider your photographs. Take a look at some of the images that you have captured recently. Perhaps it was at a backyard gathering of old friends. A photograph can be more than just a visual record. It can provide a link to your past, provoking your senses as your memories come back to life. It’s easy to smell the savory scent of the barbeque grill or feel how warm the sun was as it painted the background a richer shade of green.

A photograph can take you there. Or perhaps it was a picture of a birthday party with family congregated tightly around the table. With a photo to remind you, you’re there. The smile that comes to your face as you look within the frame of your snapshot comes as no surprise. You might notice the bright, paper streamers twisted festively, the heads thrown back with laughter, the silly antics of a fun-loving cousin. And although the colors and the faces are frozen in the picture, they are still so alive in your mind. The power of an image is quite amazing, yet often taken for granted. We all look at photographs to step back into the past. To relive those meaningful times. On your joyous day, when you’re celebrating the love of that one special person in your life, you will want to look back on this memorable occasion forever. You deserve to have your moment frozen in time by someone who will capture the light, the shadows, the emotions into images that will serve as treasured remembrances that can bring you back to that cherished day. From behind the lens, I want to tell your story, document your special moment.

Laura and Peter’s Wedding at Vetro in Howard Beach NY

Its always good when you can be a part of history, I was lucky enough to shoot the very first ceremony at the gorgeous new Vetro in Howard Beach NY. Vetro is a sister catering hall of Russo’s on the Bay also located in Howard Beach. This venue did not disappoint. The service was amazing, the staff always attentive and the Bride and Groom could not be happier. Five Stars for Vetro ! Here are someimages from Laura and Peter’s Wedding, Enjoy!

Heidi and Joe’s Wedding

I had a great opportunity to work with Laura Ryan from Laura Ryan Photography recently. And I must say she is fantastic, great photographer and all around cool person. I have always said that it is nice to have a great group of photographers in the same area that can work together.

Heidi and Joe were a fantastic couple from Queens, NY. Heidi and Joe had their reception at the amazing Stage 6 at Steiner Studios. From beginning to end their wedding had a movie star feel to it.. Enjoy !

Jen and Chris’ Wedding

I had a chance to shoot with a Shira from Shira Z photography. I always enjoy when I get a chance to shoot with other photographers, it gives me a chance to sit back and really look for the little details at a wedding. Sometimes as a photographer we are always moving and on the go, setting up shots, gathering family members, and at times we don’t get a chance to really catch EVERY detail, to shoot alternate angles. Having more than one photographer allows us tell the story through another set of eyes.

Chris and Jen were married on a chilly day in October at St. Peter & Paul in Hoboken, New Jersey. Followed by a really beautiful reception at the Rockleigh Country Club in Rockleigh NJ. It was an amazing venue with fantastic photo opportunities.
